This richly colored mosaic “Portrait of an Elephant” is an original oil on canvas in the manner of Leroy Neiman: In the manner of, as there is no accompanying documentation. Nonetheless, the consignor met and visited Leroy Neiman numerous times in New York (late 1980s – 1990s); and purchased several paintings over the course of 20 years. Neiman’s artistry, fascination with and love of wildlife, jungle animals in particular – are beautifully captured and brought to life in his envisioned artwork of Panthers, Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards, and Elephants as portrayed in this piece. This fantastic original oil on canvas painting illustrates the rich dark colors so often seen in many of Leroy Neiman’s artwork. The art is beautifully framed and is ready to hang.
